A. L. Skoog
1856–1934 · Gunnarskog · Sweden
The son of Swedish pietists, he was apprenticed to a tailor at ten and emigrated with his family to St. Paul, Minnesota, at thirteen. Twelve lessons on a melodeon were all the formal music training he ever had. For thirty years he led the music at the Swedish Tabernacle in Minneapolis and helped edit the Covenant church's first hymnals.
