Alexander Clark

A Methodist Protestant minister from Jefferson County, Ohio, Clark taught in public schools and founded a youth magazine, the Schoolday Visitor, whose circulation passed 30,000. He later edited the Methodist Recorder and chaired the committee behind the 1872 hymnal Voice of Praise, writing five hymns for it. Taken ill on a lecture tour in Georgia, he died at the governor's mansion in Atlanta.
