Arthur C. Ainger

1841–1919

The son of a Hampstead clergyman, Ainger took a first in classics at Cambridge and then spent nearly forty years as an assistant master at Eton. He wrote the school's songs, later published as Eton Songs, and co-authored an English-Latin verse dictionary.
