Benjamin Francis

1734–1799 · Wales

Born in Wales, Francis was baptized at fifteen and preaching by nineteen. After training at Bristol Baptist College he settled in 1757 at Horsley in Gloucestershire, later called Shortwood, and served that congregation for forty-two years. He also wrote in Welsh, publishing nearly two hundred hymns across two volumes.
