The daughter of a Lutheran pastor in Sweden, Lina Sandell wrote around 650 hymns and has been called the Fanny Crosby of Sweden. Many of them reached the public through settings by the gospel singer Oskar Ahnfelt, and the soprano Jenny Lind paid for a collection of her texts published in 1850.
