Ernest E. Ryden

1886–1981

A Lutheran pastor in North Grosvenordale, Connecticut, he edited The Lutheran Companion for the Augustana Synod for 27 years. He supplied original hymns and translations to the Augustana Hymnal of 1925 and wrote two books on the history of hymns. In 1949 the King of Sweden made him a Knight of the Order of the North Star for that research.
