The son of a judge who became mayor of Domnau, he studied at Königsberg and at half a dozen other universities before a short spell as a school rector in Friedland. From 1623 until his death he was pastor of the newly built Altrossgart church in Königsberg. He left about twenty hymns, among the earliest of importance from Prussia.
