George Croly
1780–1860 · Dublin · Ireland
Educated at Dublin University and ordained in Ireland, he moved to London around 1810 to make his living as a writer, contributing to Blackwood's Magazine and publishing histories and biographies. In 1835 he became rector of St. Stephen's, Walbrook, and in 1854 put out his own Psalms and Hymns for Public Worship. He collapsed and died in a Holborn street.
