Gerard Moultrie
1829–1885 · Rugby · England
The son of the rector of Rugby, he was educated there and at Oxford, then taught and served as chaplain at Shrewsbury School. A string of curacies and chaplaincies followed before he became Vicar of Southleigh in 1869 and warden of its college. His hymns often took up subjects other writers passed over, many of them gathered in Cantica Sanctorum.
