James A. Blaisdell

After entering the ministry, Blaisdell returned to his alma mater, Beloit College, to head its Bible department and library. In 1910 he became president of Pomona College in California, where he chose to cap enrollment to keep the school small. His idea of small colleges sharing common facilities became the Claremont Colleges, which he led from 1927.
