James Walch

A musical instrument dealer by trade, Walch played the organ in several churches in his native Bolton and conducted the town's Philharmonic Society in the 1870s. He wrote the tune Tidings in 1875 for the mission hymn O Zion, Haste. After his death in North Wales his widow paid for organs in two local churches in his memory.
