John Cennick

A land surveyor in Reading from Quaker stock, raised in the Church of England. He taught at John Wesley's school for miners' children at Kingswood and preached as a layman, but broke with the Wesleys over doctrine in 1740 and worked with Whitefield instead. In 1745 he joined the Moravians, was ordained, and ministered in Germany and the north of Ireland before dying in London at thirty-six.
