Composer
Joseph David Jones
1827–1870 · Bryngrugog, Montgomeryshire · Wales
His parents could afford only a single year of schooling, so he taught himself music as a boy in rural Wales. Before turning twenty he published a small book of psalm tunes, and its sales paid for college in London. He later taught singing at Ruthin, where he is buried in the Baptist cemetery.
