Composer
Joseph Harker
1880–1970 · Alnwick, Northumberland · England
Raised in a musical Methodist home in Northumberland, he taught music from his house on Simonside Street in Wallsend, and that street name became the tune for "Jesus, Friend of little children." He joined the Seventh-day Adventist church around 1905, later serving as president of the Irish Mission and leading youth work for the British Union. He retired to Reading and was a church elder there.
