Author
Joseph Swain
1761–1796 · Birmingham · England
Apprenticed to an engraver in Birmingham, he moved to London and there came to a settled faith, pouring his new feelings into hymns. He was baptized by the Baptist leader John Rippon in 1783 and eight years later took charge of a Baptist congregation in Walworth. He died at thirty-four after a brief but well-loved ministry.
