Justin H. Knecht

A Lutheran schoolmaster and music director in his hometown of Biberach in southern Germany, where from 1792 he was organist of St. Martin's, a church shared by Lutheran and Catholic congregations. A brief stint as court orchestra director in Stuttgart ended in 1808 when he returned home for good. He wrote operas and a symphony as well as organ works and theory books.
