Robert Williams

1782–1818 · Mynydd Ithel, Anglesey · Wales

Blind from birth, he made his living weaving baskets on the island of Anglesey in Wales. His ear was so sure that he could write down a tune after a single hearing, and he was often asked to sing hymns at public gatherings. The tune Llanfair carries his name.
