Sydney H. Nicholson

Organist of Westminster Abbey from 1919 to 1928, he left to found the School of English Church Music at Chislehurst, which became the Royal School of Church Music in 1945. He advised on the 1916 supplement to Hymns Ancient and Modern and composed anthems and hymn tunes. He was knighted in 1938.
