William F. Sherwin

With little formal schooling, Sherwin went to Boston at fifteen to study music under Lowell Mason and became a teacher of vocal music in Massachusetts and New York. A Baptist with a heart for Sunday schools, he wrote carols and tunes for them and worked with Robert Lowry on Bright Jewels and similar collections.
