William Howard Doane

A Cincinnati industrialist who ran a woodworking machinery plant, Doane composed hymn tunes as an amateur and turned out more than two thousand of them. He backed the Moody and Sankey campaigns and gave generously to Moody Bible Institute and Denison University. He also edited over forty songbooks.
