William J. Kirkpatrick

1838–1921 · Duncannon, Pennsylvania · United States

A carpenter by trade, Kirkpatrick spent sixteen years in the furniture business before leaving it to serve as music director at Grace Methodist Church in Philadelphia. He compiled around a hundred gospel song collections, the first when he was only twenty-one, many of them through his own Praise Publishing Company. Jesus Saves is one of his tunes.
