Author
William Orcutt Cushing
1823–1902 · Hingham, Massachusetts · United States
A pastor of Christian Church congregations in New York for 27 years, Cushing lost his voice to a creeping paralysis and had to give up the pulpit. Asking God for something still to do, he found he could write verse and produced around three hundred hymn texts. He spent his last years with friends in Lisbon Center, New York, where he joined the Wesleyan Methodists.
